Day 7: lack of description

13:04
I find that when I am trying my hardest to crank out enough words to meet a deadline, my descriptions are sorely lacking. I think the only people that are actually described decently are the two Maquets. As was seen in my previous post, I wasn't even sure what Kah looked like, and he has roughly 6000 words about him. Well, we know about his eyepatch, he has black hair, and broad shoulders. But other than that, we don't know anything else. Literally nothing else as far as appearance.
I am happy that I at least gave the Maquets' castle a decent enough description.
And if you haven't figured it out, Maquets are a type of ruler. I made up the word because I figured King and Queen would not suffice. They're more like... like warrior rulers of this castle stronghold, but the man and woman have the exact same amount of power in ruling. So I needed something that was not King and Queen, since we all associate that with King being above Queen. The Maquets were established to balance each other out, and they were given the same rank and power so that all the people would know thy were completely equal. Especially since their country is extremely rigid about social rank and caste system.
Sorry, I was rambling a bit...

In other news, I decided to do a different direction for Chapter One. It is actually the original very first chapter of Write This Down from when I first started writing the darn thing. I like it better since it has more engaging action and will actually introduce one of the most important characters right off the bat. There is no Kah in that chapter... I'll have to make a mention of him or something. That would be a good tie in... Kah's chapter is going to be moved to Chapter Two.

13:52
I was commissioned by Krys to make her symbols of the (clan/group/things) for her new site Savage Hearts. It's a site about shifters and people and there are 6 animals assigned to an element with a spiritual one as a seventh (yah, sounds like Were Myths but it's not).
I got four of them done this morning. I went all tribal on these bad boys. They are NOT finished. I intend to do more with them before announcing that they are done. But here are four of the bases.

Bayu - Bat of Air

Aguna - Bobcat of Fire

Pani - Fox of Water

Dhatu - Rabbit of Metal

I have a bear of earth, a stag of wood, and the twin dragons of void left to do. We shall see how those go... hopefully just as well as these. I left them for last for good reason. I'm not the best at drawing bears. Stags... eh. Dragons: depends.

23:34
I found the PERFECT music. The PERFECT PERFECT PEEEERRRRFECT music! Ever get that feeling?

The great city thought it was invincible. Indestructible. That is, until the volcano that for centuries lay dormant, awakened.
While the volcano unleashes havoc, Orec runs through the streets, desperately trying to find the little girl he swore to protect. He will find her, even at the cost of his life.

The song perfectly conveys his urgency, fear, and adrenalin. While the somber-sweet pauses convey a sense of devastation felt whenever he pauses and just looks at what the volcano is doing to his beloved home.

Will he live? Will he die? Will he find Elai? I'm not telling. You'll have to go read the book when I put it up.

23:59
Finished today with 2840 words under my belt! Whoot!

Peace off, minions!

Day 6: when the fat lady sings

2:30
It's an expression.
The title... I... I don't know either. *sigh*
I just needed a title and that's really all that came to mind...

ANYWAY!

I am almost at 5k for my novel's word count. I wrote 497 words today so far, and I only need 237 to hit 5k. You will NOT believe how tempted I am to just add in all the extra words in my book. >. > Cause I see them right there, and the total word count of my book...

I had to. Had to. Couldn't resist.
It really is. Right now, it's at 9048. So happy! Even if that isn't my NaNo number.

So right now, I managed to sneak in a pre-written scene into the story. ;-; I am sad because the original was perfect, and it was written for Akatsuki. But when I really think about it, he would never go in a market. So the scene is now Kah's.
I have to keep telling myself that Akatsuki is not my main character. Stop being confused, Niitari! Stop eht!

I made an avatar of Kah because whyyyyyyyyyyyyy not?

When he was younger I guess...
Also, I don't know if I like the gray eyes... I might keep them gray I suppose. I just never asked myself what his eye color was. His most distinguishing feature is the horrific disfigurement on the left side of his face. And that is about it. I think I mentioned his hair was black somewhere. I don't even know his age yet. Appearance is not über important to me. Personality and development are.

13:22

As much as I would love Kah to tell the story, and as awesome of a main character he would be...
No.
Just no.
Sorry Kah D:
Upon realizing that he is becoming too much of main character/narrator material, I need to go write a different character in.
I also feel like I would be 'copying' Liam by having a slave for a main character. It would make for one pointless argument on my part, seeing as there are tons of slaves as MCs in books... but whatever.
So I need to go write a different character into the book now to distract me from Kah >. >
I know who I WANT to write in next. He is a city guard in a city where there is never any sun. It is just that dark. It's awesome. But the city guard appears later in the book, and I don't want to get too ahead of myself. It would be ridiculous to write him in, only to scrap all of it later.
;-; But I wanna write him sooooo bad. He's such a dork xD

I also need to name these people. I've introduced at least six new people since I started writing this damn thing, and only three were given names >. > Like, crap, the MC doesn't even have a name.

Yah know, maybe the MC just wont have a name. He's not exactly human or anything. They'll just call him by all his little phrases and things that they've been calling him up to this point: "master", "Falgarith", "dark one on a night-blood steed". Etcetera.

We shall see... we shall see... we shall see... yah see?

Day 5: i dreamed a dream

3:09
I have written 1942 words in three hours. You cannot imagine how ecstatic I am. If I was not so dog tired, I would be squealing and jumping right now.

So, in this little fantasy novel of mine, there's some dark business going on in the North, and the North demands new recruits. No. No, this is NOT Game of Thrones people >. > None of those silly Wall people and their snowy North-ness. There are plenty of Northerner people in fantasy who have issues and need recruits. I know that there were some kind of Northern rangers in the Ranger's Apprentice series (that I never read...) and I'm sure Aragorn and his Rangers of the North needed some recruits now and then (though doubtful, since I think they were all Dunedain, and they were a pretty rare race as it was).

Although, I did give a nod to Aragorn and LOTR with my Northern dudes. They are called the Northern Striders. I don't know if I will ever have a side/main character who is a Northern Strider, but my characters will eventually meet them. That is for sure. Cause Northern Striders are awesome. They're like Aragorn clones, but they fight demons and execute necromancers and stuff...

I described one of my characters as "wolfish", and I was actually curious if that was a facial type. Turns out that yes, it is. And it is a facial type that belongs to a very, VERY smexy beast named Richard Armitage who plays one of my favorite "dark, brooding, bad guy" characters named Guy of Gisborne on BBC's Robin Hood.

Hello there handsome.

And tonight, I JUST found out that he also plays Thorin Oakenshield...

So... I guess Richard Armitage is set to star in the movie version of my book as Maquet Dragorathe of Abdel....

AWESOME!

Speaking of the BBC's Robin Hood...

Have you ever dreamed that you were a character from one of your favorite TV shows or books? How about your favorite character?

Well, I never did have such a dream until ONE fateful day.
The one and ONLY time I EVER dreamed I was my favorite character... I was....

That is right, ladies and gents and minions and hobos, I was the Sheriff of Nottingham: shortness, baldness, and all!

Now that sort of thing would probably constitute a nightmare in most people's opinions. After all, a perfectly fit, slightly tolerable looking, definitely young lady has a dream of this freaky-deaky, psychopathic old man. Well, actually...

... you would be wrong.
Most people who associate all dreams as having interpretation or symbolism would probably say that I starred as this person because of my own insecurities about my appearance.
In all honesty, I think it was because I was a little obsessed about this character.

Granted, he was a psychopath whose morals were nonexistent enough to lead him to try and kill (and probably succeed in the off-screen killing) of helpless children. But he was SO brilliant! He was an evil genius with an overabundance of personality. He had the best quirks, the best wit, such passive, nonchalance about what tortures or horrible acts he treated his people too, the big fat middle finger he constantly stuck up to Robin Hood and anyone else who got in his way, and of course, his true and passionate desire to kill said Robin Hood with every fiber of his being. And he came very, very close to it several times as well.

In short: he was my favorite character.
Which I still don't get why he appeared in my dream that night. Of all my favorite characters I could have been, it just HAD to be him.

It wasn't even a dream that would require the Sheriff's presence. Instead of dreaming about chasing Robin Hood, or heck, scaring a few peasants into peeing their pants, I had a really boring dream about driving anxiety.

This was before I had my actual license. I just had a learner's permit which required an adult to be in the car with me. In my dream, I was the Sheriff. And yes, I looked, sounded, acted like, and everything else in between, exactly like the character in the show. Heck, I was even wearing his silk pajamas.
Well, I was hankering for a cup of coffee. So I hopped in the car and drove to the corner of the street where there was this outdoor cafe (that does not exist in real life). I sat down to order a blueberry muffin, when I notice these two cops sitting there. I ducked under the table, worried they would recognize me and chase me out, or worse, find out I drove here with a learner's permit. So I threw my wallet, keys, and a massive wad of bills on another table, probably so that if they searched me, they wouldn't know I drove. But then I realized I needed that wad of bills. Cause that was one big wad of bills, man. So I army crawled across the floor and grabbed the money. Then the waitress came over and demanded I return to my seat. I saw the cops get up, and I dived out of the cafe through a window.

That's all I remember. It was weird, it was stupid, and it is permanently seared into my brain all because I was the freaking Sheriff of Nottingham. I am perfectly content to never dream that I am my favorite character ever again, thank you very much, because apparently, he is it.

14:14
So... yah... I have no idea why I shared that dream with you guys. That just goes to show how my train of thoughts wanders off track in the wee hours of the morning...

And looking over what I have written, I have quite a few fat characters in my stories. Like three so far... I'm not entirely sure wether it's good, bad, or neither... Hmm...

23:54
So, I finished today with 3082 words, which brings my total to 4266! I am SO HAPPY!
Now, I believe I mentioned this, if not, oh well, but I actually started Write This Down a few months ago. I forget exactly when, but it was a while ago. The actual book itself is at 8551 words now. But like a good NaNo-er, I am constantly subtracting the numbers to keep myself honest.
I have been writing a lot of Kah. I wish he was a main character ;-;. Well, he sort of is, but he is not THE main character. I wish he WAS. Dammit. He has such an amazing story to tell... >. > I will have to drop bits and pieces of it throughout the book to make up for it. I'M SORRY YOU'RE IN SUCH A WEIRD BOOK, KAH!
We can only spend Chapter One in his shoes, so that means Chapter One is a LOOOOONG chapter because I wuv Kah and don't want to put him down.
I do intend to put Write This Down on wattpad so yall can enjoy some Kah time! ^^
Oh yah, Kah is a one-eyed, ex-slave courier. He still considers himself a slave to the main character because the main character was the last to buy him, and he actually treated Kah with some decency, and he is such a noble person in Kah's eyes, so Kah will do anything the main character asks and still calls the main character 'master', even though the main character will sometimes tell him to stop.
And if you're wondering, no, I have not yet named the main character >. > . I pulled the main character's racial info and character concept off of a different story. In that story, his name was Akatsuki. But now I'm going to be keeping that story as its own separate thing. And I don't want there to be TWO Akatsukis. So I need to give main character a new name.
In my head, he is "Falgarith", because that is the name of his race. And yes, Falgarith is the last name of the evil General Razka of Were Myths. But who cares. I like the word.

That's all for this day minions. Peace off!

Day 4: here is a ramble for you

11:12
So, I am still sick. Ugh. At least my headache is gone, so I'm hoping (fingers crossed, minions) that I can crank out more stuff.
I am very proud of myself for writing over 600 words yesterday. I was starting to feel the character and maybe even the start of an actual plot. I also determined that I will need to start taking notes, making lists, and even draw a map. Cause this story is going to be REALLY REALLY REALLY messy.
That's Write This Down for you.
Which, as far as I can tell, is the novel I will be sticking with for the majority of NaNo (from what I can see at this point, don't know how that will change later).
Fili, Liam, and TheJazzPony are kicking butt and taking names. Liam is in the lead (overachiever) with a smattering 14k+ words. Fili is going level and smooth at 5k+ words so she's keeping on track, and the JazzPony is frolicking along with a lovely 2k+ words.
My other real life friend who joined NaNo (her username appears as MorgenGale) has been writing some of her novel(s) (she's doing two at a time this year), but she keeps forgetting to update her word count D: Oh well. At least she is writing ^^
Oh, and in case yall are wondering: no, I am not calm, satisfied, or happy about my sore butt being so behind on my word count, no matter what my lovely typed out words portray. Yes, I am proud that I got 600+ words out last night, but I am also pulling my hair out at the 6666 goal I need to make today.
So I shall be getting to my novel writing promptly.

A side note: as far as the NaNo dilemma of yesterday, I find that if I first edit my word count by day, then hit save, then go back to the main home page, then update the word count in the little right hand bar next to the username, it works for me. I don't know if this actually solves the problem, but it may work for other people too. *shrug*

In RP news!

AISTHESIS
Kind of slowed down again. Shame. Oh well. Things will pick back up, I know. School year is always hard.

SKYRIM
Is actually picking up. At first, Mania and I would post something for two minutes every month or so, but now Cel has joined, and Mania and I and Cel are rping there a little bit each night. So yay!

WHERE DREAMS ARE REALITY
Kind of on hold. Ish. At least for me. I keep getting in and out of my characters' heads, which makes it hard to rp. I swear at least one of them is bipolar or something. >.> Anywho, I hope I can get back in the mood again PRONTO, because I love all the drama and feels and insanity that was happening on that site.

That's all for now minions. I need to get typing my bookie wookie. So peace off!

11:38
It's weird and almost pathetic how just writing a hundred words feels like some kind of victory to me. I'm not dying here or anything. This is stupid. >.> I should be slapping myself for this. Though I suppose, if I was cranking out 1000 words every hour like I usually do, I wouldn't be sweating the small stuff.

15:00
I hit the 1116 mark sometime today. I then went off cleaning the house. My room is still a mess. Ugh. Oh well. I am now going to get working on mah sites. Yay!
I have also ben doing research on how to write a harem. Please don't ask.

16:30

SO HAPPY!
I now have the plot to my book, which will actually mean that Write This Down is a sequel to another book. Yay.
I love the "prequel/first book" very, very much, and I am actually UBER happy that I found a sequel to it. So I will be doing Write This Down, and afterwards, I will write the first book, which is called Hopelost.
Now that I have a plot, plan, and inspiration, I think I can actually start cranking out the words. :3

17:41

So, I've been watching this show called the Office (the US one btw). And for the msot part, I liked it.
But then this episode popped up that I HATED.
The manager of the company is named Andy. He leaves town for two days to go win back the love of his life. He tells the CEO he is "really sick with a flu and cannot come in". Out of the blue, this (really dumb and super irritating) woman named Nellie walks in and announces that she is taking over Andy's job.
Literally.
She is not qualified, never interviewed, everyone knows she is a mean, rude, irritating, failure of a person, but they LET HER WALK IN AND TAKE ANDY'S JOB.
Then Andy comes back, and the CEO insists that Andy respect Nellie as the new manager of the company and that he needs to resign now.
When Andy gets a chance to defend himself, he pretty much just irritates the CEO till he gets fired.
I HATE THIS! I HATE THIS SO MUCH!
When I watch stuff, I like to see how characters deal with conflict. This could have been an interesting (albiet annoying) conflict to watch get resolved. But no. The writers/directors decided that they would just shit out of their butts this idiotic plot that "oh, just because the CEO says means that Andy is fired from his job after he was replaced by someone without them telling him."
That can't actually happen in real life. Not in the way the Office did. Andy should have sued their asses. But no. He just sat there and took it.
This happened to me once. When I came back from a vacation, I found out that my bosses had given some shit head kid who mowed the lawns my job. They never told me or anything. I just showed up to work to find some fatass feeding the ponies.
But I was too shy and had my self-esteem stomped so low that I did not stand up for myself. I just took their bullshit and resigned.
WAKE UP AMERICA!
That is YOUR job! YOUR job! You OWN IT unless they fire you or you resign. They CANNOT just replace you without telling you. If they ever pull that shit on you, SUE THEIR ASSES! You have a RIGHT to work for money. You have a RIGHT to your security. You have a RIGHT to know wether or not you have a job or not. If they want to fire you or replace you, they can let you know. But thy MUST LET YOU KNOW. They cannot just replace you behind your back without even an inkling.
I should have walked right up to that fatass shithead and said, "Um, excuse me sir, but no. I'm back from vacation. I am the person who takes care of the ponies on Sundays. So get on your fucking lawnmower and mow the damn grass. Just leave my job the hell alone, bitch!"

note: I love people of all shapes and sizes, but I LOATHED that boy that day. LOATHED.

I should have gone to my boss' face and demanded an explanation. DEMANDED. But no. I didn't.
I was watching this episode hoping to see Andy stand up for himself and tell that jerk off CEO exactly who he was and who he was messing with. But no. Andy just resigned. Just like me. I wanted to see a victory. All I got was a repeat of my past.

So, sorry you had to read that rant. But it was important to me, and I wanted to get it out there. So there. My advice to you.

Day 3: nano dilemmas

So, the NaNo site is not working for me. Everytime I try to update my word count, I get this spinning doom wheel, and then it pops up "404 Error: not found". So until I get a good day of internet, I will just keep track of what I got done on here.

Today, I got my word count to 745. I am very proud of myself. I still have a ways to go till I actually get caught up, but at least I'm getting over my god-awful sickness and can finally think. I also believe that I am formulating a plot for Write This Down. MAYBE. I am combining ideas I had from other story ideas to make this work. Let's see how this goes.

Currently, all I've written, there is a man named Kah, a one-eyed slave who is also an international courier. He brings a message to the Marquets (rulers) of the capital city Abdel. Your typical, routine job. Only it isn't.

Kind of stuck on wether or not a prophecy is actually involved with this little drama/conflict bit. Prophecies are SO cliche in fantasy.

Anyway, good day, and peace out minions.

P.S.
Sorry that these day-by-day updates are so short and lame.

Day 2: sickly, sickly, sicky-ness

0:27 AM

Holy cow! I got caught up in a conversation with my friend and it lasted over an hour. So I went into the living room to write my words for the day, and by the end of our convo, it was 12:20. >.> So yesterday, I literally wrote, a smattering 9 words and 9 words only. Today better not be that suckish >.>

0:30 AM (monday)
Still writing. I finished Day 2 with 115 words. I'm very happy about that. My creativity is at an all time low thanks to this horrible, horrible cold of mine. I slept pretty much all day, only waking up to eat a smidgen of breakfast, in the afternoon to say hi to my friends, then at night to type some words, eat pizza, and watch TV. Tomorrow (or rather today I suppose) I will be going to a hiring event at a grocery store in the hopes of getting a job. Cause I need monies. Hopefully I will also feel better enough to write something.

Peace out minions.

Day 1: smattering nine

Started off around 0:30 today and wrote 9 whole words. I was very pleased with myself.

Yes, childrens, minions, and kitten cats: it is once again that time of year, a time for screaming, binging, and coffee drinking: it is NaNoWriMo!

Since I cannot pick a novel off the bat, I decided I am going to jump between Death Eaters, Through Struggle, Orpheus Rising, and Write This Down. Only till I actually pick which one I will be sitting down with and diligently plod on through.

Death Eaters: 2012 NaNo winner and 2013 Camp NaNo winner. A post-apocalypse, paranormal novel about teens fighting the horrifying, death eating creatures called Death Eaters.

Through Struggle: 2013 NaNo winner. An urban fantasy about necromancers battling it out for power while a main, zombie-like protagonist struggles to keep his necromancer master safe.

Orpheus Rising: Mystery/Thriller/Adventure. A young girl lives a rather droll life till a letter appears on her piano one day, sent by an unsigned writer who desperately wants to save her. Question is, from what?

Write This Down: Fantasy. The harrowing adventures of a mysterious dark stranger who rides a "night-blood" steed. He tries to protect a small girl in order to fulfill a promise he made years ago, but every turn he makes sends his life into further hell and makes the fulfillment that much more difficult.

So we shall see which one I will be choosing by the end. As of today, I wrote 9 words in "Write This Down".

So stay tuned for more.

Peace out, minions!
